Jennifer Lopez certainly has had some big hits. Since releasing her debut album, On the 6, in 1999, J.Lo has commanded pop radio with tracks like "If You Had My Love," "I'm Real," "Love Don't Cost a Thing" and "Jenny From the Block."
And she hasn't stopped. This year, she released Love?, featuring club bangers like "On the Floor." Now, J.Lo plans to give her fans a proper greatest-hits album.
"I just got the call a week ago that the greatest-hits album for Jennifer Lopez is coming up," vocal producer Kuk Harrell told MTV News. "Now I'm just waiting for them to put on the schedule [and] let me know what songs we're actually cutting and stuff like that."
While he didn't have too many details about what fans should expect on the album, Harrell did share who else Jenny is hitting the studio with. "I think [when] I find out what the direction is, I will definitely go in the lab. I will get in the lab with Tricky Stewart and The-Dream and see what we can come up with for it."
Harrell has certainly been busy this year. He worked with Rihanna on her Talk That Talk album, Justin Bieber on Under the Mistletoe (and will work with him again on his next album) and now has plans to hook up with Lopez. He's grateful for all the opportunities he's been given.
"I'm so fortunate to be able to work with Rihanna and Justin Bieber ... and Jennifer Lopez for that matter, so anytime a call comes in to work with the three of them, it's always 'yes,' because it's just assumed [it'll be good]," he said. "They're superstars, so how are you going to turn them down? Unless we have a scheduling conflict, but it's always a 'yes.' It's always an immediate 'we're gonna kill it.' That's when my competitive edge comes out. It has to be the best. It has to be better than anything we've ever done."
What tracks do you hope to see on J.Lo's greatest-hits album? Let us know in the comments!

'I'll never forget that day,' Busta says of his group's 1993 split on set of classic MTV show, which returns Sunday on MTV2.
By Rob Markman, with additional reporting by Rahman Bugg
"Yo! MTV Raps" meant so much to so many people. More than just a weekly video show, "Yo!" brought fans into the then-undocumented worlds of their favorite rap stars.
" 'Yo! MTV Raps,' just in a nutshell, gave everybody an opportunity to look at artists as real people," Busta Rhymes told MTV News of the groundbreaking series, which will make a return on Sunday on MTV2 at 12 a.m. ET. "You saw us when we were upset, you saw us when we were happy, you saw us when we were beefin', you saw us when we were celebrating some sh--."
For Busta, who started his career as a member of the 1990s Long Island, New York, rap quartet Leaders of the New School, "Yo! MTV Raps" documented one of the most pivotal moments in his career. "Leaders of the New School broke up on 'Yo! MTV Raps,' with Fab Five Freddy hosting it," Busta recalled. "I'll never forget that day."
It was 1993 and LONS had just released their second album, T.I.M.E. (The Inner Mind's Eye), which was anchored by their #1 Billboard Hot Rap Single "What's Next." Still, despite their growth as a group, Busta Rhymes and member Charlie Brown began collaborating with other acts as soloists. Bus had already delivered a scene-stealing verse on A Tribe Called Quest's 1991 "Scenario" and appeared on Heavy D's "A Bunch of N---as" with a then-unknown Notorious B.I.G. Brown had opened up doors for himself as well, also appearing on "Scenario" and Funkmaster Flex's "Nuttin' but Flavor" with Ol' Dirty Bastard and Biz Markie.
"Me and C. Brown, we ain't really dig each other for a long time," Busta said, citing a silent competition between him and his former bandmate.
During the 1993 episode of "Yo!" all the members introduced themselves for the camera, shouting out Leaders in the same breath — all except Brown. "Just lounging, getting to know myself and what my capabilities are and what I'm gonna do in life," he said.
"The cameras is rolling and we're looking at each other like, what the f--- this n---a talkin' about," Busta recalled. "We're steppin' to Brown beefin' like, 'What is this?' [And he's like,] 'I don't wanna be in the group no more.' "
Busta Rhymes went on to release his solo debut The Coming in 1996 and has enjoyed one of the most storied careers in hip-hop. On November 17, the Dungeon Dragon announced his latest deal with Cash Money Records and Google Music, but despite all of his highlights, the LONS split ultimately made Busta who he is today.
"That was just a big moment. That was a defining moment for me," he said.

Lady Gaga performs on "X Factor" UK
Photo: itv
Lady Gaga lost her head on Sunday night when she took the stage on "X Factor UK" to perform "Marry the Night."
Gaga, decked out in a gown that made her appear headless, emerged from a crypt as torches burned around the stage. Her dancers did most of the heavy lifting in the movement department, while Gaga let all the action happen around her, standing in the middle of the stage donning the unusual costume. As the song closed out, Gaga went back in the box and came back out in just a black bodysuit, finally getting in on the dancing for the gothic performance of the Born This Way track, an ode to her hometown of New York.
After the performance, Gaga confirmed that she was deep into the planning stages for her next tour. "I'm gonna be here [in Britain] next year for my next tour. I just finished designing the stage and it's bigger and better than ever," she said on the show. "I'm so happy. I can't wait to see you all there."
In addition to tour plans, Gaga took to Twitter to confirm that she's near completion on two upcoming projects, her video for "Marry the Night" as well as her forthcoming Thanksgiving special.
"Been up all night editing my first TWO films as director!" she wrote. "Marry The Night Video + 'A Very Gaga Thanksgiving' the 2nd airing on thanksgiving!" She teased the "Marry the Night" clip last night in a still photograph, in which she appeared to be rolled down a hallway on a gurney.
Gaga made other headlines Monday (November 14) when it was announced that she had split from longtime creative director Laurieann Gibson. MTV News confirmed the split between the longtime collaborators. The singer noted on Twitter that she is now working with Gibson's former #2, Richard Jackson.

Rappers will join Melle Mel and Scorpio for a special performance of 'The Message' at the Grammy Nomination Concert on November 30.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were onto something when they recorded one of rap's earliest hits, "The Message," in 1982. Not only would hip-hop rock the party for years to come, but the then-budding genre would grow to become the CNN of the streets — detailing the ills of the inner-city ghetto. On November 30, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross and LL Cool J will join Furious Five members Melle Mel and Scorpio for a special performance of "The Message" during the Grammy Nominations Concert, airing live on CBS.
The one-hour show will reveal the nominations for the 54th annual Grammy Awards, which will take place on February 12, 2012, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. LL Cool J will host the awards and Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Rihanna, Sugarland and Usher have already been announced as performers while Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry will be on deck as award presenters.
For the fourth time the nominations will be announced during prime time and the Grammy Nominations Concert will not only feature the cross-generational rap performance, but will also boast performances from past Grammy winners and nominees.
On November 21 it was announced that "The Message" would be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, 30 years after it was recorded. On the track rappers Melle Mel and Ed "Duke Bootee" Fletcher rhymed about junkies in the alley, pimps, prostitutes and the rampant unemployment of the 1980s. The groundbreaking lyrics were summed up perfectly on the track's hook, "It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from goin' under."
"The Message" has since been a staple in hip-hop. It was sampled by Ice Cube in 1993 on a remix to his "Check Yo Self" single and again on Diddy's "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" in 1997.
The Grammy Nominations Concert Live — Countdown to Music's Biggest Night will air on November 30 on CBS at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

'I feel lucky to be a songwriter that has an open mind to all different kinds of music,' frontman Aaron Bruno says of Megalithic Symphony.
By Rya Backer
AWOLNATION's Aaron Bruno
Photo: MTV News
AWOLNATION may be a play on frontman Aaron Bruno's childhood nickname, but according to him, it's far from a solo project.
"It's my vision, I suppose, but it's sort of uncomfortable for me to take full responsibility for it, because nothing is possible without the support of a team of people," said Bruno, formerly of such rock acts as Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero.
Still, he remains instrumental in crafting the style-bending and -defying melodies, hooks and choruses featured throughout the group's debut album, Megalithic Symphony (listen to his singles, "Not Your Fault" and "Sail," for perfect takes on pop-punk and prog industrial, respectively).
"I feel lucky to be a songwriter that has an open mind to all different kinds of music," Bruno said. "So I think because of that, I was able to make a record that is genre-less, and I'm very proud to not be able to tell you that it's an alternative record or only a rock record, et cetera. ... I'm just a huge music nerd/fan at the end of the day."
But how did they come up with that name? "I went with the name AWOL, because I've always enjoyed the option of leaving social circumstances without having to explain myself," Bruno said. Less straightforward, however, is Bruno's songwriting. "It's important to me that people interpret the lyrics and the concept and the message for their own and not read too much into it literally. Because a lot of the lyrics are metaphors for life situations that I've been in, and I encourage people to create their own meaning for it out of it all."
Regardless of how the songs are taken in, Bruno is sincere in hoping whatever message is delivered holds meaning to the listener. His one great hope for Megalithic Symphony? "Hopefully this record that I've made helps people through the struggles of life or helps them through the good times."

'She sent it through her A&R people to give to me,' MJB says of My Life II's 'Love a Woman.'
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf

Not sure how to keep your woman happy? Just ask Mary J. Blige and Beyoncé. The two divas lay out a tutorial on how to court the fairer sex with "Love a Woman," from MJB's upcoming My Life II ... The Journey Continues, Act I. But fans may be surprised to learn that the long-overdue collaboration was nearly a one-woman affair.
B initially recorded the song for her4 LP, but thought it would be a better fit as a duet with Mary.
"It was a song she recorded for her album that didn't fit her album and she sent it through her A&R people to give to me," Mary revealed to MTV News. "When the song came, her voice was on it completely and it was just amazing and I wasn't sure that they wanted to give me this record because it was so amazing."
The soothing track starts off with Mary sweetly singing, "So you think you know how to love a woman/ But I think it's still some things you need to know." As the flowery instrumental builds with a serene piano melody and accentuating horns, MJB goes on to warn that a woman needs more than material things. B turns up the heat demanding that she needs "more than sex," she needs to be made love to. From there, the song plays as a lyrical how-to. Communication is a must, as is respect, but coming home late and being a one-minute man is a no-no.
While both the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul and an expecting Queen B display good chemistry on the song, a video for the track may be hard to pull off. "I'm sure 'Love a Woman' would be a single but I can't really trouble Beyoncé right now; she's pregnant and I'm sure she's doing her stuff," Mary said. "So whenever she's ready, if she's ever ready, I'm ready and it'll be great."
Should MJB and B shoot a video for "Love a Woman"? Tell us in the comments!

Coldplay's new British stamps
Photo: Royal Mail
On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.
The albums featured in the new series are the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, Led Zeppelin's IV, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, The Clash's London Calling, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Blur's Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head.
Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery.
"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."
Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date."
"We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

'All of this comes with the territory,' Ush tells MTV News of paternity-suit drama.

Justin Bieber and Usher

Usher might not have known how big Justin Bieber would become when he discovered him a few years back, but he was pretty sure he had found something special.
Since Bieber burst on the scene with his My World EP back in 2009, the 17-year-old has grown up with the world watching. He's gone from up-and-comer to full-fledged pop sensation, racking up chart-topping albums and a box-office hit and becoming an all-around mega-heartthrob — all in two years.
Of course, with the good does come negative attention as well. Recently, Bieber was hit with a paternity lawsuit, which has since been dropped.
Usher, no stranger to his own controversies, had these words for the Biebs: "Stay strong. And know that all of this comes with the territory."
Aside from the drama, Usher is especially proud of Bieber's charitable side. His mentor said he "absolutely" knew the kid from Stratford, Ontario, had a big heart from the start.
"To write a check is only half of it, but when you truly take on a responsibility to be a philanthropist, you accept an effort, and I really think that Pencils of Promise is something that has a very bright future," Usher told MTV News at an event for the charity, noting that Bieber is a only a small part of it.
Usher — who appears on Bieber's new Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe — gives credit to the folks surrounding the teen superstar, including manager Scooter Braun. "Just judging from the determination and the will power of the entire team around Justin, I see a very, very promising [future] for him as a philanthropist," Usher said.

'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll
You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.
In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.
But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.
"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."
Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.
"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

In MSNBC's 'Fatal Friendship' documentary, doctor says that on the day he died, pop star was begging for propofol to help him sleep.

Dr. Conrad Murray
Photo: Getty Images
Dr. Conrad Murray, found guilty Monday of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson after a nearly six-week trial, says the King of Pop lied to him about his medical history during the time Murray served as his personal physician.
That's just one of the claims Murray makes in his controversial interview with NBC, conducted just days before his guilty verdict was read. It is part of a larger documentary called "Michael Jackson and the Doctor: A Fatal Friendship," set to air Friday (November 11) on MSNBC.
"I only wish that maybe in our dealings with each other, he was more forthcoming and honest to tell me things about himself," Murray says about his interactions with Jackson. "Certainly, he was deceptive by not sharing with me his whole medical history, doctors he was seeing, treatment that he might have been receiving." Murray also denies knowing Jackson had an addiction problem, though he admits he was attempting to wean the singer off the anesthetic propofol in his final days. On the day he died, Murray says Jackson was "a desperate man" who begged his physician for more propofol to help him sleep. According to trial testimony, Jackson's nickname for the drug was "milk."
"He asked me, 'Please, please, Dr. Conrad ... I need some milk so that I can sleep. If I don't get any sleep today, I cannot perform, I cannot do anything,' " Murray says. "He was pleading and begging me to please, please let him have some 'milk,' because that was the only thing that would work."
Earlier this week, in a letter to the heads of NBC, MSNBC and Comcast (which owns a majority stake in the NBCUniversal media conglomerate,) the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate blasted the "Fatal Friendship" documentary as "one-sided" and "reprehensible," and demanded MSNBC "exercise proper judgment and refrain from airing" the program. They also called into question whether or not the network paid Murray for his interview, a claim NBC has yet to address.

Tending to promotional duties, Rachel Weisz was spotted at the BAFTA photocall for her upcoming film "The Deep Blue Sea" in London, England earlier today (November 25).
Showing off her effortlessly chic style, the "Dream House" actress dressed in a black jacket, striped top, and leather pants as she posed for photogs covering the UK event.
During a recent interview, Rachel discussed her character in the Terrence Davie flick, telling press, "She makes a kind of fool out of herself. She's so in love and so desperate to be with Freddie that she doesn't really care that he gives her nothing and treats her badly: she'll take anything. And I thought that was a really interesting emotional place to be in."
"I suppose you can say [love] is a kind of madness, isn't it? That's sort of what I guess the film is about; throwing away reservations and being completely, totally at the mercy of all your passions, throwing your manners and your breeding and your upbringing and your class, or whatever, out the window," Weisz added.

'He's a great actor,' director David Cronenberg tells MTV News. 'It's obvious in the movie.'

The infamous birth scene in "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" may have drawn comparisons to the work of director David Cronenberg, but star Robert Pattinson got to work with the auteur for real in the upcoming "Cosmopolis," an adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo.
The role represents a dynamic shift from the character fans around the world know Pattinson for, Edward Cullen, but Cronenberg, when he spoke with MTV News' Josh Horowitz, explained that the choice was nothing more than the normal casting process.
"You start with the basics. How old is he? What does he look like? Is the character very nerdy? Is he handsome and devilish?" Cronenberg said. "Is he an intellectual? You think about all these things and you think about the actors who could possibly project the things that you need from this character."
Once Cronenberg had a list of potential candidates for the "Ulysses"-inspired protagonist, Eric Packer, it is important to consider a star's profile in order to get the proper funding for the film. Cronenberg said that it takes an actor with a name like Pattinson to get his movies made.
After judging Pattinson's interest in the project and working around his schedule, it was clear to Cronenberg that he was the man for the job. "Ultimately, I felt he was the guy. Once again, intuition," he said. "I saw his movies, including ones maybe his Twi-Hard fans don't know about, like 'Little Ashes.' Maybe they saw 'Remember Me,' I'm not sure."
As for Pattinson's "Twilight" reputation, it's something Cronenberg acknowledges. "I can't pretend that I'm not aware of that. This is an unusual jump for him. He said it himself. It's scary," Cronenberg said, adding that it's the scary part of it that makes it worthwhile. "It's a scary thing because he's never really had to carry a movie quite that way before, totally on his own," he said. "He's in every scene. He's almost in every shot, so scary for him, but for an actor, scary is good. You don't want to be bored. You don't want to be too confident."
The question that will be on everyone's minds who goes to see the film may ultimately be, "Can the 'Twilight' kid actually act?" Cronenberg was quick to cast any doubt aside. "Really, he's fantastic. He's sensational," he said. "Really, I'm telling you. He's a great actor. It's obvious in the movie. It's not like maybe yes, maybe no. It's obvious."

But Mariah Yeater attorney Jeffrey Leving tells MTV News negotiations are still ongoing.

A lawyer for Mariah Yeater confirmed reports Wednesday (November 16) that the California woman had dropped her paternity suit against Justin Bieber.
After TMZ reported that Yeater had been dropped by the attorneys representing her and that they had withdrawn the claim last week, Chicago attorney Jeffrey Leving told MTV News that the suit is, technically, off but that negotiations are happening behind-the-scenes for a settlement.
"We are still pursuing a DNA test and ... if it's positive, our desire for child support is still active," said Leving, who confirmed that a motion to dismiss the paternity action was filed November 9 in San Diego. "We could refile the paternity case tomorrow if we wanted, but we are attempting to settle the case out of court."
Leving said his office is in negotiations with Bieber's attorney in the case, Los Angeles-based Howard Weitzman, to settle the matter. Weitzman could not be reached for comment at press time.

Leving said he was legally barred from commenting on his decision to withdraw the petition but described it as part of a strategy to negotiate a confidentiality agreement and child-support payments as part of an out-of-court settlement. He said his co-counsel in California had been in touch with Weitzman and that he has also brought on a detective to investigate what he claimed were death threats against Yeater.
Though he is now directing the case, Leving said he has been involved from the beginning but did not participate in the decision by Yeater's two former San Diego attorneys to file the paternity suit. He has also barred Yeater from doing any further media appearances or interviews. "She's a 20-year-old single mom with no money and no job trying to raise an infant, and she's being harassed and stalked," he said.
Last week, Bieber's camp confirmed that the 17-year-old singer would take a paternity test as soon as he returns from a European promotional jaunt in celebration of his just-released Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe.
Bieber's team vigorously denied the claim from the moment Yeater launched the paternity action earlier this month. Yeater claimed in a signed affidavit in the suit that she had unprotected sex with Bieber last October in a backstage area at one of the singer's concerts at Los Angeles' Staples Center and that her 4-month-old baby is his.
On Wednesday, Bieber's spokesperson once again maintained the pop star's innocence when asked to respond to reports that the suit had been dropped. "As we've said from the beginning, it's sad that someone would fabricate such a malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claim," Matthew Hiltzik said in a statement. "We'll continue to consider all of our options to protect Justin."
Asked to respond to suggestions that the withdrawal of the paternity suit appeared to weaken Yeater's claim, Leving said he felt just the opposite was true. "The case is stronger now because we can negotiate outside of court," he said. "I believe her. I believe she had sexual intercourse with him and I do believe he is the father of the child."
Because Leving is pursuing a nondisclosure agreement, he said, ideally, nobody will know the results of the DNA test either way. "If it's negative, we'll deal with it. If it's positive, we'll deal with it when that happens," he said. "But hopefully whether it's positive or negative, nobody will know."
